We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated flexible team players to join Royal Preston Hospital Theatre Team which is part of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate and promote our Trust Values.

You will be responsible for supporting your team and junior members of staff in achieving the highest standards of patient care and as a valued team member you will demonstrate commitment to the role.

Senior Theatre Support Workers work within the patient lounge and will support the team that carries out the operations by carrying out a range of checks, such as checking individuals into the theatre department, preparing equipment and monitoring.

Monitor and record patient’s vital signs, reporting and escalating findings in a timely manner.

Duties to include, but not be limited to

  • Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.
  • Assist in the positioning of patients in theatre and in the recovery area, ensuring that pressure areas are protected adequately, and that patient comfort maintained.
  • Be able to work within the flexibility of the theatres, ie working days, evenings, nights & weekends if required.
  • Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
  • Contribute to maintaining safe, clean and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Maintain and develop own competence in accordance with Trust and local policy.
  • Communicate and document information in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and report outcome to line manager.
  • Liaising with theatres and wards/departments.
  • Receiving patients and visitors into the department carrying out front of house duties.
  • Reception duties where required
  • Monitoring of Theatre Specimen Room
  • Support patients pre and post procedure visiting the Interventional Pain Suite
  • Organise Patient Transport where applicable
