An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Technician Team Manager – Procurement, Homecare and High Cost Drugs to join the Pharmacy Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a key leadership role responsible for the day to day management of medicines procurement, homecare and high-cost drugs services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead/manage the Pharmacy Procurement, Homecare and Pharmacy Information Analyst teams, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred services.
  • Oversee the procurement and supply of medicines, maintaining stock availability and managing supply shortages and disruptions.
  • Manage Homecare Medicines services and provide oversight of High Cost Drugs monitoring, reporting and expenditure analysis.
  • Provide leadership, line management, coaching and development for pharmacy technicians, analysts and support staff.
  • Lead service improvement, digital innovation and automation projects to enhance service quality, efficiency and patient care.
  • Act as a named Responsible Person under the MHRA Wholesale Dealer's Licence, ensuring compliance with medicines legislation, Good Distribution Practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical, pharmacy, finance and external partners to optimise medicines procurement and deliver value for money.
  • Produce and analyse procurement, homecare and high-cost drug data to support performance monitoring, service planning and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, quality systems and governance processes to ensure safe and compliant services.
  • Manage medicines budgets, monitor expenditure and identify opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Support workforce development through training, succession planning and the development of a skilled, high-performing team.

You will provide professional leadership across medicines procurement, homecare services and the pharmacy data team, ensuring continuity of medicine supply, compliance with regulatory and governance requirements, effective contract management and optimal use of resources. The role also plays a pivotal part in managing medicines expenditure, delivering efficiency programmes, supporting service transformation and contributing to regional and national procurement initiatives.

Working closely with senior pharmacy leaders, clinicians, finance colleagues, suppliers and external partners, you will drive continuous improvement, champion innovation and help shape the future direction of pharmacy support services. You will also act as a deputy Responsible Person for activities covered by the Trust's MHRA Wholesale Dealer's Licence, ensuring services meet the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance.
