We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician, with a keen interest in mental health, to join our wonderful Pharmacy team. Based within the Central Locality on LSCFT, the post will be mostly based on the Skylark unit for four days per week and will work with the team at Chorley inpatient unit for one day per week, offering the opportunity to work with several areas of adult mental health inpatient care.
Skylark is an 11 bed ward accommodating adult females aged 65 and over, and is a new offering to those who live or have strong family or carer connections to Preston, South Ribble and West Lancashire, meaning they can be closer to home and their loved ones while they are receiving treatment. The ward offers 24 hour around the clock patient focussed care for females with a functional mental health condition.
The Pharmacy Service within Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust is a well-established team with a wealth of expertise in both Mental Health and Community services and continues to provide high quality clinical input into all aspects of the health provision delivered by the organisation. We are a supportive team committed to the education and development of our expanding service.
We are looking to recruit a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician to support medicines management for service users and the wider multidisciplinary team. You should be enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to prioritise your own workload. The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently is essential.
To help provide a comprehensive pharmaceutical service with emphasis on the accurate preparation and dispensing of medicines to patients and for the supply of medicines to wards, departments and partnership organisations under supervision. The successful applicant will also participate with audit, medicines reconciliation, medicines optimisation and discharge facilitation. You will support the team with medicines supply for the unit and will support the use of the electronic prescribing system.
Participate in local and national audits and monitor compliance with medicines legislation and national and local standards for the safe and secure handling of medicines. Act as a key member of the multidisciplinary ward team and the wider pharmacy team. There may be a requirement to travel to other sites within the Trust.
