We have an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant Radiologist with a subspecialist interest in Chest / Cardiothoracic Radiology to join our highly diverse, motivated, and thriving Radiology Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The new post has become available following significant investment in our Community Diagnostic Centre.

This is a 12-month full-time fixed term post, with a view to be made a permanent substantive post and will be based at Chorley and Preston Hospital and also our local CDC site, Preston Healthport. The successful candidate will support general radiology, assist in the smooth running of the Directorate and work with colleagues in the provision of an effective and efficient service. The successful candidate must live within 45 minutes travel time of RPH.

You will join a committed and friendly team of Chest / Cardiothoracic Radiologists with various subspecialty interests including cardiac imaging, lung biopsy, ILD, PET/CT and Post-mortem CT. The team currently supports 13 Chest physicians, with whom we have a close relationship, also with a wide variety of clinical interests, including lung cancer, ILD, asthma, interventional bronchoscopy, and pleural intervention. There will be opportunities to develop any of these further as well supporting expanding clinical interests such as the pleural service and innovative interventional bronchoscopy techniques.

There are weekly Lung Cancer MDTs, a general chest clinico-radiological MDT and bi-monthly regional ILD MDTs. LTHTR is a cancer centre and is the central hub for the regional ILD service. Duties will include all those duties normally expected of a radiologist in a similar sized Radiology department in the United Kingdom. The majority of the appointee’s time will be spent on clinical duties.

In addition, the appointee will be expected to take part in the formal teaching and ongoing audit programmes within the directorate as well as a full range of management duties commensurate with this role. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide cross sectional imaging reporting and support for various MDTs. The post will involve 10-programmed activities of imaging support (8 DPAs plus 1.5 SPAs and 0.5 for on-call).

The Radiology Directorate comprises Radiology, Neuroradiology, Ultrasound, Vascular (general) Interventional Radiology, Chest Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, including SPECT scanning and Oncological Radiology and Mammography service.
