Elective Caesarean Section Midwife | Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Preston

We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic midwives to join our highly motivated midwifery team, as part of our Band 6 team responsible for supporting a woman's journey during the elective caesarean section process. This is an exciting secondment opportunity for those midwives who would like to be involved in shaping the future pathway for our planned elective work.

You will be an excellent communicator, with good listening and advocacy skills to ensure women and their families are heard, helping them to achieve a high quality, positive and safe experience through the effective planning and management of individualised care.

Within this role you will have the opportunity to support women and their families through the elective caesarean process. Working closely with the Multi-Professional Team you will also be involved with the scheduling and administration process for elective caesarean section.

As part of our team, your duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Providing care for women and families during the elective caesarean process.
• Acting as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation.
• Supporting and mentoring junior staff.
• Working in collaboration with the Flow and Capacity coordinator to review and schedule elective caesarean section requests.
• Supporting and liaising with women who are planning a caesarean section, ensuring they are fully prepared for their elective caesarean.
• Ensuring a high standard of Midwifery care is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet women's needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence-based guidelines.
• Setting, monitoring and maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
• Proactively managing risk and maintaining patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Communicating all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.
• Promoting provision of education and health promotion.
• Ensuring environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant.
