Everest Recruitment & Services Ltd is currently seeking experienced Locum Consultants to undertake temporary medical assignments across Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts throughout Northern Ireland. We regularly receive opportunities within major acute hospitals across Belfast, Antrim, Lisburn, Coleraine, Newtownards, Londonderry and other locations, covering a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Current demand includes General Medicine, General Surgery, Elderly Care, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Acute Medicine and other Consultant-level specialties, with vacancies becoming available throughout the year.
Assignments include ad-hoc sessions, short-term cover, long-term placements, planned leave cover and vacancy cover, offering flexibility for consultants seeking additional clinical sessions or ongoing locum work.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality consultant-led care within your recognised specialty.
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients in accordance with current clinical guidelines and evidence-based practice.
- Provide senior clinical leadership and expert decision-making.
- Supervise, support and educate junior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in outpatient clinics, ward rounds, theatre lists, emergency care and on-call commitments where required.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate clinical records.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, appraisal and quality improvement activities.
- Comply with GMC standards, HSC Trust policies and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality and patient safety.

Important Information
This is a temporary locum agency position. Assignments are offered according to HSC Trust requirements and service demand. Work and hours cannot be guaranteed. Assignments may be subject to IR35 status as determined by the client organisation. Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment compliance, including identity verification, employment history, references, occupational health clearance, professional registration checks and AccessNI/DBS (where applicable). Visa sponsorship is not available for these locum assignments. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK.
Essential Requirements
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a Licence to Practise.
- Entry on the appropriate GMC Specialist Register (where applicable).
- CCT, CESR or equivalent specialist recognition appropriate to the advertised specialty.
- Recent NHS or equivalent hospital Consultant experience.
- Demonstrable commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Excellent communication, leadership and multidisciplinary team working skills.
- Ability to work independently within a Consultant role.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within Northern Ireland Health & Social Care (HSC) Trusts.
- ALS, ATLS or other relevant life support certification.
- Enhanced AccessNI or DBS clearance (or willingness to complete one).
- Previous locum Consultant experience.
