We are looking for a dynamic individual to provide a high quality, proactive and professional postal service, based at Southmead Hospital. Ideally, you will have a strong work ethic and be a real team player, ensuring that the service operates efficiently. All training will be provided.

Responsibilities include:

  • Sorting, delivering and collecting post for all wards and departments within Bristol Foundation NHS Trust, acting in a caring and professional manner and working in line with the Facilities and departmental operating procedures.
  • This is a physical role, involving long periods of standing and walking to all locations across the hospital. You will be undertaking physically moving roll cages and trollies as part of your daily activities.
  • Using the Trust vehicle to deliver across the wider site (retained estates), therefore a clean, full UK driving license is absolutely required for applicants to be considered.
  • Being well organised and having good timekeeping skills.
  • Using own initiative and working within agreed guidelines.
  • Having numerical skills and a good attention to detail.
  • Using computers, with knowledge of Word and Excel.

The shift pattern is working Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00.

Key tasks include:

  • Sorting incoming post from Royal Mail.
  • Distributing incoming mail (letters, parcels, flyers, etc.) across the Southmead Hospital site (Brunel building and the Retained Estate).
  • Collecting all outgoing post from the wards/departments.
  • Preparing and franking outgoing mail accordingly to the class/postage required.
  • Answering telephone and responding to inquiries as appropriate.
  • Completing job-related reports/paperwork daily, ensuring accuracy of information recorded.
  • Undertaking regular stock checks.
  • Ensuring that correct and safe methods of work are always employed.
  • Delivering and collecting post to the retained estate areas.
