We are looking to appoint a post-CCT Clinical Fellow in Lower Limb Orthopaedic Surgery. Bart's Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and offers a comprehensive service covering the full range of Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery, with a long and rich heritage of innovation and training in orthopaedics and trauma.
The post CCT arthroplasty fellowship position is for 12 months, working across our network of hospitals (The Royal London Hospital, Bart's Health Orthopaedic Centre and Whipps Cross Hospital). Our team treats the full range of hip and knee conditions, allowing us to customise the fellowships to provide an optimal experience suited to the successful applicant's needs.
The fellowship provides solid grounding in primary hip and knee arthroplasty as well as exposure to complex revision surgery including peri-prosthetic fracture management, multi-stage revision, and massive endo-prosthetic replacement. There is also scope for training in other aspects of hip and knee surgery including ligament reconstruction and hip arthroscopy.
The position provides a mixture of supervised and independent practice to prepare the fellows for independent consultant practice with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery. Furthermore, we offer the opportunity to participate in consultant level on-call at Whipps Cross Hospital. The fellows are integral members of the team involved in day-to-day care of patients in clinics, theatre, and on the wards.
The successful applicant(s) will work closely with all the consultants in the department, with Mr Millington acting as the educational supervisor, and the whole team assisting in mentoring. The fellowship has an excellent record of helping applicants directly move on to substantive consultant posts.
Our orthopaedic academic unit has a strong track record of involvement in clinical trials and research, and the fellows are strongly encouraged to actively participate in research opportunities. In addition, the fellows are expected to complete an audit or quality improvement project during their year.
We are delighted to accept fellows from across the UK and internationally. You must hold full registration with the GMC and be post CCT or within 3 months of obtaining CCT. A special interest in lower limb arthroplasty is essential, and previous fellowship experience is desirable.
