We are currently working with a well-established Further Education College in Portsmouth that is looking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Design & Technology Lecturer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lecturer who is passionate about their subject and committed to helping students achieve outstanding results and progress to their next stage of education or employment.

The Role

  • As a Design & Technology Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering inspirational and engaging teaching, learning and assessment across Design & Technology programmes.
  • You will support students in developing their technical knowledge and practical skills, while encouraging them to apply their understanding creatively to solve design problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Deliver scheduled lessons, tutorials and student assessments.
  • Monitor and record student progress using College information systems.
  • Prepare learning plans, schemes of work and relevant teaching resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.
  • Support students in applying technical knowledge to solve design problems.
  • Create an engaging, inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in parents' evenings, promotional events and other College activities.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.

The Ideal Candidate

  • The successful candidate will have strong specialist knowledge of Design & Technology and a genuine passion for supporting students to achieve their potential.
  • You will ideally have:
    • A Level 5 or equivalent teaching qualification, such as a Certificate in Education or PGCE.
    • A high level of specialist knowledge within Design & Technology.
    • A relevant degree or higher-level qualification.
    • At least 2 years' experience teaching Design & Technology to different student groups.
    • Experience delivering the AQA A Level Design & Technology curriculum.
    • A commitment to continuous professional development.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • The ability to inspire, motivate and engage students.
    • A self‑motivated, innovative and creative approach to teaching.
