Portering Team Leader | Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust
To be first line manager for Porters, Dispatchers and Supervisors.
To ensure that shifts are adequately covered.
That sickness, annual leave and disciplinary matters are managed in accordance with Trust and departmental policies.
This includes overseeing the Portering task management system, ensuring all work is allocated in a timely fashion and any issues are rectified to avoid any disruption to our patients or service users.
This will include a proportion of Supervisor/Dispatching duties during times when existing Supervisors/Dispatchers are busy, unavailable or on breaks or for any reason designated by the Portering Manager.
To lead the General Porters and Supervisor/Dispatchers on all aspects of their work, ensuring the highest levels of performance are met consistent with the Trust Core Values as set out above.
In addition, to support Portering Management in the smooth running of the Portering Department.
Support in the day-to-day delivery of an effective Portering Service, ensuring that there is an integrated approach and that customer requirements are delivered in line with service level agreements, highlighting issues to the Portering Manager/Senior Leads when the service is falling short of requirements.
Closely manage Porters and Dispatch Supervisors through regular performance and appraisal meetings and agreeing SMART objectives.
Management/Monitoring of weekly compiled team Rota’s, to ensure there is always sufficient cover.
Monitoring individual staff adherence with their Rota shifts, addressing any instances of lateness or misuse of the attendance monitoring system e. g. clock cards.
Responsible for the management of sickness absence & Annual leave reports to the Portering Manager.
Responsible to the Portering Manager for ensuring that there is effective cover at all times at all levels within the Portering function, and that there is adequate day, night and shift staff cover.
Ensures minimum staffing levels are maintained.
Motivate and develop staff in conjunction with the Portering Manager and co-ordinate the training requirements of the team in line with the objectives and any staff development initiatives either internally or externally.
