We’re excited to offer an incredible opportunity for a Site Services Mechanical Engineer (Pipe, Heat and Steam Bias) to join our dedicated and professional engineering support team in Poole!

Job Purpose

The role involves providing multi-skilled general maintenance support across the site as part of the engineering team.

Responsibilities include maintaining on-site steam boilers, valves, and systems, as well as carrying out pipe fitting work on steam and water systems, heat exchangers, factory water systems, and drainage. The position also requires performing planned maintenance on all mechanical and electrical building services and equipment, including water and steam systems.

All maintenance activities must be accurately recorded on the CMMS system, alongside the completion of Permit to Work documentation. In addition, the role involves working closely with electrical and mechanical contractors to ensure all tasks are completed in line with Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Health, and Environmental legislation requirements.

  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4pm
  • Role Type: Permanent, Full Time Role

Your Duties Will Include

  • Carry out both reactive and planned maintenance on all plant machinery to ensure efficient operation.
  • Manage legionella control by coordinating with contractors for testing and treatment in line with L8 HSE Code of Practice and
  • guidance.
  • Maintain and manage internal site fabrication across production, ancillary, and office areas.
  • Identify site improvement opportunities and escalate proposals to the Line Manager for approval.
  • Continuously develop skills, in agreement with the Line Manager, to increase capability across site tasks.
  • Oversee and perform maintenance on external buildings and surrounding areas.
  • Complete daily schedule sign-offs and accurately record additional work via job sheets.
  • Support the closure of NCNs related to fabrication activities.
  • Report any concerns, including building wear and tear, safety issues, and additional support requirements.
  • Adjust workload dynamically to support production, hygiene, and engineering priorities.
  • Undertake out-of-hours work as required by business needs, including pre-agreed upgrades during non-productive hours.
  • Assist in coordinating external contractors for tasks beyond site capability, including obtaining and challenging quotations
  • and ensuring compliance with permit-to-work and site requirements.
  • Maintain efficiency and productivity when completing scheduled maintenance and tasks.

About You

  • City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Engineering(or equivalent)
  • Ideally trained or working towards an NVQ (or equivalent) at level 2 in a construction-based background.
  • BOAS Qualified
