This Year 2 Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to support pupils during a key stage of their primary education within a nurturing and well-organised school environment. The Year 2 Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher to support learning, independence, and confidence, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.

Duties as Year 2 Teaching Assistant:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging Year 2 lessons
  • Work with pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis to support learning
  • Assist with early literacy and numeracy activities
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Help create a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources
  • Encourage pupil independence and positive learning behaviours
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times

Ideal Year 2 Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children in a primary setting
  • Understanding of Key Stage 1 learning and development
  • Patient, caring, and supportive approach to working with young learners
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to commit to a temporary role with the potential to become permanent
  • Ability to work full time or part time as required
