Duties as Year 1 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide full-time support in a Year 1 classroom
- Assist with small groups, interventions, and 1:1 support where required
- Support early literacy, numeracy, phonics and wider learning tasks
- Help maintain consistent behaviour expectations and positive routines
- Contribute to SEND support where appropriate
- Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and daily activities
- Promote pupils’ social, emotional and personal development
- Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare
Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:
- Experience supporting pupils in KS1, especially Year 1
- SEND experience is beneficial
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach to young learners
- Confident delivering small‑group and individual support
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Able to follow teacher direction and use initiative appropriately
- Reliable, proactive, and committed to supporting pupil progress
