Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a modern and busy food manufacturing business in the Plymouth area for an experienced Production Cook / Food Production Operative to join their team on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Cook, Food Production Operative, Batch Cook Operative, Food Manufacturing Operative, Catering Operative, Kitchen Operative, Food Processing Operative, or Industrial Cook looking to join a well-established food manufacturer offering consistent weekday hours and long-term career prospects.

You must have previous production cooking or food manufacturing experience to be considered for this position.

Due to the location, applicants with their own transport are preferred.

  • Key Duties
  • Prepare batch-cooked food products and large-scale recipes according to production schedules and build guides.
  • Operate commercial food production equipment including grills, fryers, mixers, and batch cookers.
  • Ensure consistent product quality, including taste, portion size, ingredient specification, and presentation.
  • Follow strict food safety standards, including HACCP guidelines and temperature control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate batch labelling and product traceability.
  • Monitor raw materials and assist with stock control and weekly stock takes.
  • Restock ingredients and support inventory management within the production area.
  • Carry out end-of-shift cleaning, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant food production environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Production Cook, Food Production Operative, Batch Cook Operative, Catering Operative, Kitchen Operative, Food Manufacturing Operative, or similar role is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and production instructions.
  • Good understanding of food safety standards, including HACCP.
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting heavy items.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high hygiene and safety standards.
  • Own transport is preferred due to the location.
