Are you a skilled Controls Engineer looking for a high-impact contract where you can truly own the lifecycle of major capital projects? We are partnering with a large global manufacturer at their Plymouth site to find a dynamic Controls Engineer. This isn't a role where you'll just be maintaining the status quo. Instead, you will be driving massive site upgrades, including a major overhaul replacing machines, integrating cutting-edge technology into existing systems, and upgrading legacy assets to modern standards. Location: Plymouth (On-site)

Duration: 12 Months

Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Full-Time)

Pay Rate: £23.36 - £47.30 per hour PAYE inside IR35 (depending on experience)

As a Controls Engineer, you will manage a mix of project stages, focusing predominantly on Low Voltage (LV) controls systems. While hands-on programming isn't a deal-breaker, you must possess the technical expertise to hold vendors accountable, lead commissioning, and fault-find effectively.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the end-to-end execution of engineering projects, from initial site surveying and concept design to scoping, alignment, and tendering.
  • Issuing work permits for contractors and managing implementation safety, including electrical isolations on circuits.
  • Working closely with contract partners, suppliers, and internal associates to ensure projects hit strict timelines and compliance goals.
  • Actively participating in project design reviews, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Overseeing the removal of old equipment and integrating new assets like switchboards and updated control systems across varying generations of machinery.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record of delivering Controls, Automation, and Electrical projects.
  • Strong understanding of LV controls, electrical circuits, and industrial safety regulations.
  • Experience with PLC systems, SCADA, HMI, and industrial networks is highly desirable.

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
