The Pharmacy Assistant will work as part of the Pharmacy Team to deliver a safe, effective, and patient-centred pharmacy service across Trust sites.

Working under the supervision of the Lead Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacists, the post holder will support medicines management, dispensing, stock control, ordering, and administration in accordance with Trust policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and national legislation.

The post holder will contribute to the safe supply, storage, and distribution of medicines and support service delivery across inpatient, outpatient, community, and clinic-based services.

  • Deliver a high-quality medicines management service across wards, clinics, community services, and other Trust sites.
  • Provide technical support within the dispensary as required by service needs, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely supply of medicines.
  • Support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and nurses in the delivery of medicines optimisation activities.
  • Work within SOPs and Trust policies at all times.
  • Participate in implementation of service developments and improvements within pharmacy services.
  • Place orders for prescriptions as instructed by pharmacy staff.
  • Liaise with GP practices and community pharmacies as directed.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to effective communication within the pharmacy team.
  • Support training of pharmacy assistants, student technicians, and other staff where appropriate.
  • Contribute to audits, governance, and service improvement activities.
  • Report and record incidents via Trust systems in line with policy.
