Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Operational Leadership

    A significant part of this role involves leading the day-to-day operational delivery of Community Surgical Services and NHS Cataract Services. You will oversee patient pathways from referral through to discharge, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and that patients receive a seamless experience throughout their treatment journey. Working closely with clinical teams and administrative staff, you will identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce delays and maximise the utilisation of available capacity. You will monitor waiting lists, theatre utilisation, clinic activity and service performance to ensure operational targets are achieved. Through effective planning and coordination, you will support the efficient use of resources whilst maintaining high standards of patient care. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Practice Manager and Clinical Lead GP to implement service improvements and develop new pathways that enhance both efficiency and patient outcomes.

  • Team Leadership and Staff Management

    The role includes responsibility for the leadership and line management of the Community Surgical Services Administration Team. You will provide day-to-day support, supervision and guidance to team members, ensuring that staff are equipped with the skills, knowledge and resources required to perform effectively. You will undertake regular one-to-one meetings, support staff development and contribute to recruitment, induction and training processes. Building a positive team culture will be an important aspect of the role, helping to ensure that staff feel supported, engaged and focused on delivering excellent patient care. The successful candidate will be expected to promote teamwork, encourage continuous improvement and support workforce planning to ensure services are appropriately resourced.

  • Theatre Coordination and Service Delivery

    Working closely with consultants, surgeons, nursing staff and administrative teams, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth operational running of theatre activity.   • Patient Experience and Quality Improvement

    Delivering an excellent patient experience is a key priority for both Deepings Surgical and Welland Clinic Ltd. You will help ensure that patients receive a professional, efficient and compassionate service from initial referral through to completion of treatment. You will support the implementation of patient feedback systems and use patient experience data to identify opportunities for service improvement. The role involves monitoring patient satisfaction, analysing Friends and Family Test responses, reviewing patient testimonials and supporting initiatives designed to enhance the patient journey.     An important aspect of this role will involve supporting the development and operational delivery of Welland Clinic Ltd. You will assist in establishing new private healthcare services and ensuring that robust administrative processes are in place to support private patient activity. This includes coordinating private patient pathways, supporting service implementation and contributing to the development of patient information materials and communication processes. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders to help identify opportunities for growth and support the introduction of new services including surgical procedures, diagnostics and specialist healthcare services. You will contribute to the development of systems and processes that ensure private services are delivered efficiently, professionally and in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Marketing and Business Development

    As services continue to expand, the role will play an important part in supporting marketing and business development activities. You will help coordinate website content, patient communications and promotional campaigns aimed at increasing awareness of available services. Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will support the development of marketing materials and patient information resources. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with GP practices, optometrists, consultants and other referrers to help support service growth and increase referral activity. You will contribute to business development projects, support the preparation of business cases and identify opportunities for service expansion.

  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting

    The post holder will be responsible for producing operational and performance reports to support decision-making and service improvement. You will monitor key performance indicators, theatre utilisation, referral trends and activity levels, helping to identify opportunities to improve productivity and service delivery. Working alongside the Practice Manager and leadership team, you will support financial monitoring processes and contribute to service planning activities. Strong analytical skills will be required to interpret performance data and provide meaningful information that supports operational and strategic decision-making.

  • Governance, Compliance and Quality Assurance

    Maintaining high standards of governance and compliance is a key requirement of the role. You will support compliance with NHS contractual requirements, CQC standards, information governance regulations and organisational policies. The role includes supporting audits, quality improvement initiatives, incident investigations and complaint management processes. You will help ensure that accurate records are maintained and that services operate in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance and best practice standards. Working collaboratively with colleagues across both NHS and private services, you will contribute to the development of safe, effective and well-governed healthcare services.
