We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Epilepsy Specialist Nurse to join our dynamic Community Neurology Service. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse with a passion for improving the lives of people living with epilepsy. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care across the community, supporting patients, families, and carers to manage epilepsy safely and confidently.
You will provide specialist assessment, education, and ongoing management for individuals with epilepsy, working closely with primary care, acute services, and voluntary sector partners to ensure seamless care pathways. You will be acting as a Non-Medical Prescriber or be willing to undertake the NMP qualification.
- Deliver flexible specialist nurse-led clinics across Cambridgeshire through a blend of face-to-face, virtual and telephone consultations.
- Provide expert advice on seizure management, medication optimisation, lifestyle considerations, and risk reduction.
- Support early intervention, self-management, and personalised care planning.
- Act as a key point of contact for patients and families, offering guidance, reassurance, and continuity of care.
- Work collaboratively with neurologists, GPs, mental health teams, and social care to coordinate holistic care.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide training and education to colleagues, students, and external partners on epilepsy awareness and best practice.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold the highest standards of professional practice.

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle. Provides clinical care by managing a patient caseload autonomously, providing a highly specialised expert assessment, plan and evaluation within the specialist area (utilise electronic records and manage reporting). Provides appropriate information, advice and support to Service Users to enable them to actively promote their own health and well-being, referring to medical colleagues for advice as required. Analyses and interprets highly complex sensitive information and communicates related information where there may be barriers to understanding. Develops care pathways including 1st seizure/ambulatory care pathway in collaboration with acute care staff. Evaluates protocols for the specialist area and the impact on other disciplines.
