Functional Skills English Tutor and play a vital role in supporting prisoner rehabilitation through education.
You'll deliver engaging Functional Skills English lessons from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, helping learners build confidence, gain recognised qualifications, and develop the skills needed for successful resettlement.
Working within a supportive education team, you'll use innovative teaching methods and self-directed learning to inspire learners and improve employability while contributing to reducing reoffending.
- Main Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Functional Skills English lessons from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, adapting teaching to meet individual learner needs.
- Plan, prepare, and evaluate lessons, schemes of work, and learning resources to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Monitor learner attendance, progress, and achievement, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate records.
- Promote learner engagement, motivation, and positive behaviour through effective classroom management and relationship building.
- Work collaboratively with the Education Manager, Hub Manager, and wider education team to achieve qualification and attendance targets.
- Ensure compliance with prison security procedures, safeguarding requirements, health and safety regulations, and all Sodexo policies.
- Ideal Candidate
- Holds (or is willing to work towards) a recognised teaching qualification such as CTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education, or PGCE.
- Holds a Level 3 qualification or above in English and has experience delivering Functional Skills English.
- Passionate about education and committed to supporting rehabilitation and reducing reoffending.
- Able to motivate and engage learners from diverse backgrounds, including those with low confidence or previous negative experiences of education.
- Organised, adaptable, and confident in planning engaging lessons while monitoring learner progress.
- A positive team player with excellent communication skills and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Enhanced Level 2 clearance and DBS
