Personal Assistant required ES3085a

I am a man in my 40s looking for a PA to join my team and to work every Sunday and Wednesday lunchtime and to provide holiday cover when necessary. I live with my wife and daughter. I work from home for a Charity. I have MS and I am a wheelchair user. I need help with personal care, getting dressed and getting out of bed using a transfer aid. Other duties would include preparing meals and drinks, picking up shopping and prescriptions and helping with some light domestic tasks.

Duties include:

• Personal Care: Assisting with showering or a wash in bed, toileting, dressing and grooming.
• Meal Preparation: Planning and providing nutritious meals and snacks and ensuring drinks are provided for hydration.
• Medication Support: Reminding client to take medication and administering if necessary.
• Household chores: Assisting to keep the home environment tidy and clean including vacuuming, mopping floors, washing-up and laundry.
• Errands and Appointments: Collecting shopping and prescriptions when necessary. On some occasions accompanying client to appointments.
• Companionship and Wellbeing: Engaging in conversation with client and family to promote mental wellbeing.
• Training: To undertake and keep up to date with training as required.
• Collaboration: To work with the care team and family to ensure any health changes are reported and followed up with healthcare professionals.

Communication: Excellent verbal and listening skills for interacting with client, family, friends and other healthcare professionals.

Patience and Empathy: You must be able to treat the client with dignity and respect and remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Capability: The role does involve helping the client with mobility so you must be able to bend, lift and perform physical tasks comfortably and to be able to use hoist and other mobility devices with ease.
