Location: Hybrid (Able to work from a London or Sheffield based office minimum of 2 days per week)
Hours/Days per week: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: You will be part of the People Team, providing administrative and generalist HR support to the advisory and recruitment functions, helping to ensure the smooth delivery of HR services throughout the employee lifecycle. The core duty of the People Officer is leading in the day-to-day operation of the HR Service, including recruitment, payroll, changes in terms and conditions, absence, leavers, reporting and wellbeing. You will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the employee life cycle are supported. Please note this is a temporary position to support with current long-term absence within the team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administration of HR inbox as part of a shared responsibility
- Maintain and update employee records on SharePoint and HR platform
- Carrying out and tracking ongoing compliance checks, including DBS, right to work and driving licence verification, to ensure compliance records are maintained.
- Prepare and process documentation relating to approved changes to terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and accurate record keeping.
- Supporting with formal and informal meetings by arranging, preparing paperwork, setting up and note taking
- Collecting data for payroll and HMRC and providing all starter, leavers, change of terms and conditions information to payroll
- Administration of employee benefits schemes as part of a shared responsibility
- Ensuring full probation cycle is complete on time; including but not limited to, liaising with managers, booking and completing HR checks ins and saving complete documents to file.
- Complete offboarding including conducting exit interviews where applicable
Recruitment:
- Support with end-to-end recruitment; including advertising vacancies, organising interviews and ensuring recruitment processes are followed
- Issue recruitment paperwork and complete pre-employment checks including references and right to work checks
- Arrange and deliver new starter inductions where needed
- Administration of the Recruitment inbox as part of a shared responsibility.
Other:
- Responding to managers and employees on basic HR advisory support in relation to absence, annual leave and HR processes, escalating to HRBP when needed
- Providing administrative support and assistance with People Team projects and initiatives as required, including coordinating training activities, updating HR documentation and processes, supporting employee surveys, and assisting with engagement, wellbeing and EDIB initiatives.
- Any other duties as directed by People Management Team
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Up to date knowledge of current employment legislation
- Ability to work across HR disciplines including advisory and recruitment
- Strong administrative skills, with a good eye for detail and ability to stick to deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams
- Experience of SharePoint and HR Systems
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office packages
- Proven understanding of working with confidential information
- Strong customer care skills, and ability to deal professionally with colleagues
