We have an exciting opportunity for an advanced Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to join our team. You will be responsible for sharing the leadership of the Pelvic Health team, implementing service development in line with current evidence and standards and delivering training for physiotherapists, students and the wider MDT. The role will include day-to-day staff management and service management responsibilities such as supporting staff through probation and completing annual appraisals.
Duties will include clinical leadership of the service from Furness General Hospital, Westmorland General Hospital and throughout the cross bay Pelvic Health Team. Leading on service development and delivering in-service training to further develop skills within the speciality.
The successful applicant will be an effective team player, have the ability to use their initiative and communicate with empathy. Previous specialist experience is essential with the ability to demonstrate a commitment to clinical leadership.
The role has a shared responsibility for pelvic health physio services at Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital and a requirement to work on both sites, base at either site can be agreed on appointment.
To be a clinical lead for the Pelvic Health Team with responsibility for the planning, delivery and evaluation of the service provided on a day-to-day basis. To work as an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for the management of a clinical caseload, providing highly specialised assessment, treatment and advice to patients.
To provide highly specialist advice to the speciality team and to staff working in other specialist areas or professions. To provide supervision, advice and guidance to Specialist Physiotherapists and Physiotherapists, assistants and students on a day-to-day basis. To take a leading role in the planning and delivery of training and education for the physiotherapy team, to support the professional and personal development of staff.
There may be a requirement in the future to be an unsupervised member of the respiratory on-call rota, providing evening, weekend and public holiday cover. The on-call service is currently under review and your involvement in the on-call service will not be an initial requirement however is stated in the job description.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults is provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
To undertake comprehensive and highly specialised physiotherapy assessment of physical problems, frequently of a highly complex nature involving psychological and social problems, using highly advanced clinical reasoning and assessment skills to provide an accurate diagnosis and indication of likely outcome. To formulate an individual and agreed treatment plan based on in-depth knowledge of evidence-based practice and carry out appropriate treatment in a manner that respects people’s privacy, dignity and individuality. Reassessing patients' progress and altering treatment plans if required.
To regularly provide highly specialist advice, assistance and education for Physiotherapists, assistants and students with regard to patient management, including clinically demanding patients. This will include advice to physiotherapy staff in other clinical areas and other professions. To accept patients transferred from other team members where the complexity of their problems requires a more highly specialised level of expertise.
To implement and review clinical standards relevant to the work undertaken for ensuring a high level of patient care is provided. To contribute to the development and implementation of standards, procedures, policies and written patient information within the speciality teams and department. To propose changes to reflect any developments in clinical practice and inform other professions as necessary.
