BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for the transport and logistics sector, supplying to a variety of clients across London, Hertfordshire, and surrounding areas.

We also recruit for Social Care and Public Sector roles.

We are currently recruiting for a Payroll Officer for our client based in Nottingham.

Responsibilities for Payroll officer

  • Administer and maintain all NCHA Group payroll and pension systems and records, including expenses, statutory payments and absence-related processes in line with current legislation and agreed timescales.
  • Process payroll transactions accurately, including net pay, pensions and other payroll control accounts, ensuring compliance with organisational and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records and complete regular reconciliations, taking corrective action where required.
  • Extract and analyse payroll and financial data, preparing reports, returns and documentation as required.
  • Assist with monthly, period and year-end payroll procedures, ensuring all relevant documentation is completed within deadlines.
  • Respond to complex payroll queries from colleagues and stakeholders, maintaining confidentiality and complying with the Data Protection Act.
  • Identify payroll discrepancies and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and recommend corrective action.
  • Support the development of payroll systems, processes and procedures, including maintaining procedure manuals.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory and financial accounts and provide information to internal and external auditors.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to business transformation and improvements in financial and payroll management services.
