A well-established and friendly independent accountancy practice is seeking a Part-Time Accounts & Tax Senior to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking for a varied role combining personal tax, bookkeeping, VAT and client support responsibilities within a close-knit environment.
The Role
Working three days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with some flexibility to swap Tuesday for Thursday), you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of personal tax clients while supporting the wider practice with bookkeeping, VAT and administrative duties. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients
- Preparing and submitting Self-Assessment Tax Returns
- Ensuring all personal tax filing deadlines are met
- Bookkeeping for a range of clients
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns and MTD submissions
- Liaising directly with clients via phone, email and face-to-face meetings
- Handling HMRC registrations and correspondence
- Processing client payments and supporting billing administration
- Providing general practice and client support as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment and be confident in managing client relationships. You will ideally possess:
- AAT and ATT qualifications (or equivalent experience)
- Strong personal tax and bookkeeping experience
- Excellent knowledge of IRIS software (essential)
- Experience using accounting packages such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- The ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- A professional and personable approach when dealing with clients
