Our friendly, dynamic and talented Children's team require registered Children's nurses to join them in an exciting opportunity to become part of our Children and Young People Emergency Department.
Within the role you will be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality care to our paediatric patients alongside your emergency department colleagues, as well as working alongside the management team to ensure the highest level of patient experience in accordance with the Trust's values. This is a rewarding but demanding role that requires dedicated Children's nurses to deliver emergency care to children and their families in a diverse population of the Wirral.
We are looking for Children's nurses at band 5 staff nurse level. We want enthusiastic highly motivated nurses that can demonstrate a kind, caring and compassionate attitude with a desire to provide effective and efficient emergency care.
We are dedicated to supporting the development of our paediatric nurses within our service and offer continuing professional development including courses in Paediatric Immediate Life Support and Advanced Paediatric Life Support. You will have a supernumerary period upon commencing within the post and will be closely supported by our Emergency Department management team inclusive of the dedicated practice development nurses, to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

These positions will offer the successful candidates an ability to build upon existing skills and knowledge, whilst working within a friendly developing team with a vision for constantly changing and improving children’s services within a dynamic DGH.

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is situated on The Wirral peninsula which has a stunning coastline and beautiful countryside surroundings, with great activities for its residents. We are one of the largest and busiest acute Trusts in the North West of England, comprising of the Wirral’s only Emergency Department. We provide a high quality range of acute care services and employ over 6,000 staff, who serve a population of approximately 400,000 people across Wirral, Ellesmere Port, Neston, North Wales and the wider North West footprint.
We have approximately 855 beds trust-wide and our financial turnover is in excess of £337m. The Wirral is easily accessible with excellent transport links including motorway, train, bus or ferry and within easy reach to the major cities of Liverpool, Chester and Manchester as well as neighbouring North Wales.
If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have an Enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months. As this vacancy is within the division of Women and Children, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
