An opportunity has arisen at the Oxford Centre for Immuno-Oncology (OxCIO) to join a successful laboratory support team in the role of Laboratory Officer, based at the Old Road Campus in Headington, Oxford.
The post is supported by Oxford Cancer, a city-wide research initiative and partnership between Oxford University, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Thames Valley Cancer Alliance and regional clinical partners to facilitate collaboration and ensure rapid translation of scientific discovery into treatments for patients. By working with academics at Oxford and across the UK, this role will be critical in supporting cutting-edge and innovative research that delivers both scientific and clinical impact.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Officer will work within the laboratory support team alongside the Laboratory Support Apprentice and researchers to provide high-level operational and technical support across the Institute.
You will be acting as a first point of contact for laboratory staff, triaging and forwarding requests. You will be managing orders and judging stock levels of chemicals, laboratory reagents, supplies and consumables. Working alongside and deputising for the Departmental Safety Officer is a key aspect in this role where you will be responsible for maintaining an effective safety culture. Promoting safety awareness and facilitating innovative, safe teaching and research. As a Laboratory Officer you will ensure compliance with University HTA policies and procedures across the institute.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract until 30 September 2028 and is funded by CRUK and Kidani Trust.
