An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to join a successful and highly regarded organisation in Oxfordshire.

This is a broad and influential role where you will work closely with senior leadership to provide financial insight, support strategic decision-making and ensure the continued effective management of resources.

Your new role

As the successful candidate, your responsibilities will include

  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting and financial planning process.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, financial reports and performance analysis.
  • Support senior leaders with financial decision-making and budget management.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend corrective action where required.
  • Provide regular financial information and insight to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Oversee core finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, reconciliations and expenses.
  • Support payroll processes and monitor staffing costs against budget.
  • Complete month-end procedures including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, compliance and governance processes.
  • Manage and develop a small finance team while driving continuous improvement across systems and procedures.
  • Support audit requirements and act as a key contact for finance-related enquiries.
  • What you'll need to succeed

To be the successful candidate, you will need

  • Previous experience producing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance and accounting best practice.
  • Excellent Excel and financial systems skills.
  • The ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate it clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience leading or supporting finance teams would be advantageous.
  • Experience within education, not-for-profit or other publicly funded environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
