We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading independent automotive dealer group renowned for quality and service since 1999, for the position of Diagnostic Vehicle Technician at their franchise-approved dealership in Oxford. This opportunity is ideal for skilled and experienced motor trade professionals seeking a challenging and rewarding role within a reputable company.

Competitive basic salary of £39,000 – £45,000, dependent on experience and accreditation.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday either 8:00am-5:00pm or 8:30am-5:30pm, with an hour lunch; 1 in 3/4 Saturdays 8:30am-12:30pm, paid as overtime.

Duties of a Diagnostic Vehicle Technician:

  • Leading diagnostics and fault-finding across a diverse range of vehicles
  • Conducting high-level repairs and technical work to manufacturer standards
  • Collaborating with the Workshop Controller to maintain workshop efficiency and productivity
  • Completing accurate and thorough job cards and reports
  • Supporting quality control and upholding workshop standards as a Diagnostic Vehicle Technician
  • Performing vehicle health checks and identifying additional work opportunities
  • Mentoring junior team members where appropriate
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the service department

Requirements of a Diagnostic Vehicle Technician:

  • Qualified to IMI/NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Proven experience as a Diagnostic or Master Vehicle Technician, with exposure to complex diagnostics and servicing
  • Strong electrical and mechanical system knowledge
  • Hold a UK driving licence with minimal points
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with a willingness to share technical knowledge
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced, franchise-approved environment
  • Motivation to meet and exceed team targets
  • An active MOT Tester licence would be advantageous but is not essential
