The Opportunity
As a Communication & Language Specialist, you'll work closely with learners who have a range of communication needs, supporting them to access education, develop essential life skills, and achieve their individual goals. Working alongside teaching staff, learning support teams, parents, carers, and external professionals, you'll use your specialist knowledge to develop personalised communication strategies and interventions that empower learners and help them reach their full potential.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assessing learners' speech, language, and communication needs
- Developing and delivering personalised communication support plans and interventions
- Supporting learners with language development, social communication, and interaction skills
- Providing guidance and practical strategies to teaching staff and support teams
- Working collaboratively with EHCP coordinators and multidisciplinary professionals
- Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate records
- Contributing to learner reviews and EHCP outcomes where appropriate
- Promoting inclusive learning environments that support communication and independence
- Helping learners build confidence, self-advocacy, and skills for future success
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or a relevant equivalent qualification
- HCPC registration or relevant professional experience within speech, language, and communication support
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, empathetic, and learner-centred approach
- Experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A genuine passion for helping learners achieve their full potential
