We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and experienced occupational therapist who has significant experience working with people with a variety of medical conditions, including having experience working in respiratory medicine.
Applicants must demonstrate a broad knowledge of treatment strategies, have excellent communication skills and demonstrate a flexible and positive approach to working.
This post involved managing a caseload ofcomplexpatientswith acute and chronic respiratoryconditions.
Providehighlyspecialist assessment of cognitive, physicaland functional abilitiesusing evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
The post holder will undertake full occupational therapy assessments and independently plan individual, specialised, evidence-based, treatment programmes for patients appropriately depending on the occupational therapists assessment findings, using appropriate clinicalreasoning.
The post holder must applya high levelof understanding of the effect of illness/disability on occupational performance and provide training and advice on adaptations to technique and the patients social and physical environment.
The post holder must be competent in the development and implementation of remedial and preventative treatment programmes addressing motor, sensory, cognitive, perceptual, psychological needsand occupational performance, using evidence-based principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
Toidentifyrisks, complete risk assessments and implement risk management strategiesand document this accurately.
To recognise any change in the conditionor deteriorationof the patient and alter treatment accordingly or escalate to medical teams asrequired.
To makeappropriate clinicalobservations and keepaccuraterecords of assessments and interventionsin accordance withlocal and national guidelines.
Toadvisepatientsand carers on specific aids, equipment and adaptations and recommend provisionsasrequired.
To liaise with professionals in onward services to ensure continuity of care.
To compile clear assessment reports and recommendations for future care, for the multi-disciplinary team and other external agencies.
To respect the individuality, values, cultureand religious diversity of patients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs, ensuring equity of service provision To comply withall relevant local policies and procedures, national standards and guidelinesrelated to older adults, occupational therapy, condition specific evidenceand adhere to the Royal College of Occupational Therapy professional standards and ethics.
Lead, coach and manage the performance of the team in line with good people management practices.
