You support, coordinate and actively assist in the management and organisation of care provision within the Endoscopy Unit. You provide quality planned care for patients during their peri-procedure phase of care by delivering quality patient care through appropriate clinical supervision and managerial leadership. You implement best practice standards (HTM 01 06, Royal College guidelines, GRS, JAG, etc.) in endoscopy service delivery. You develop and support business initiatives, policies and strategies which improve the service delivered to all our customers. You are responsible for adhering to the departmental decontamination programme for flexible endoscopes. You participate in completing all departmental risk assessments, COSHH assessments and implementing action plans to address risk. You comply with all relevant mandatory training.
Previous experience as a Senior Registered Practitioner or equivalent in an endoscopy service is required. Experience and training in pain management, care of the deteriorating patient, care of patients under conscious sedation requiring monitored recovery is essential. Experience of clinical governance and audit, along with applying clinical reasoning skills across a varied patient case mix and competence across a range of skills, including clinical and decontamination, is necessary. Evidence of working in partnership with Consultants to explore and challenge existing practices while maintaining and enhancing services and standards is important. Registration as a Practitioner with NMC or HCPC, along with basic and advanced competence/qualification in Endoscopy Care and Decontamination, is required. An Operators and Managers Course in Endoscopy Decontamination, teaching/assessing/mentorship qualifications, and knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies (Care Quality Commission, GRS, JAG, HTM 01 -06) are also needed.
