Support and Progression Advisor
Salary: £28,325.00 per annum & Company Benefits
Location: Oldham Covering East Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Permanent Full Time
Hours of Work: 37.5 per week
Are you passionate about making a difference and creating positive social impact? As a Support and Progression Advisor, you will play a transformational role in a voluntary, health-informed programme in large community settings. You will be helping participants unlock their potential and building confidence through identifying strengths to overcome barriers through their voluntary journey.
In the role, you will manage a focused caseload and deliver support from both office and community-based settings, coordinating health interventions, community referrals, skills and volunteering opportunities, employer engagement and in-work support where appropriate.
What you will be doing:
- Managing a focused caseload, ensuring that you hold regular contact and engaging with participants to enable them to progress successfully through the programme.
- Completing personalised assessments to develop tailored support plans that reflect participant strengths, needs, goals, wellbeing, barriers and readiness to achieve individual aspirations.
- Supporting the participant’s access to skills development, volunteering, community activity, employer engagement and in-work support, aligned to their individual goals.
- Delivering support from office and community settings, ensuring support is accessible and responsive to participant circumstances.
- Coordinating referrals and warm handovers to specialist support services where appropriate.
- Adapting support for participants that may be vulnerable and low on confidence as well as escalating safeguarding and wellbeing concerns where needed.
- Recording participant progress and ensuring case records, action plans, referrals and agreed outcomes are completed accurately, on time and in line with contractual and quality requirements.
Qualifications
You will require:
- Strong relationship-building, communication, coaching and motivational skills.
- The ability to be able to communicate effectively and build trust with participants who may have complex needs.
- Strong planning and organisational skills in order to meet quality standards, whilst supporting sustained engagement and progress.
- Ability to be comfortable working in both an office and community setting to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Desired experience:
- Experience of working in a relevant industry within the past 3 months.
- Ability to adapt communication styles to meet individual needs, whether delivering support in person, by telephone, video call or other online platforms.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, confidentiality, data protection, digital systems and professional standards.
- Experience supporting people facing health, wellbeing, disability, confidence-related or wider personal barriers.
- Experience delivering coaching, mentoring, advice, guidance or key worker support in a people-centric way.
- Experience developing personalised support plans and supporting positive outcomes, including confidence-building, skills development and readiness for work.
- Experience in community-based, employability, health, social care, wellbeing or related settings would be beneficial.
