The Trustees are looking to recruit to the post of English Teacher based at New Bridge College. Teacher’s Pay Range (subject to experience and qualifications) SEN Allowance. Closing Date: 1st September 2026.

Part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, New Bridge College provides a learning space and hub for Post-16 students from our 16 - 19 population, based at a campus in the centre of Oldham. Our aim is to ensure that all our students, from Key Stage 5 onwards, engage in a revised and vibrant curriculum offer. The students at the College follow different pathways that develop areas of interest. All students at the College engage with the core offer of English, Mathematics and ICT. As well as developing these core skills, the College’s main aim is to support young people and provide them with numerous opportunities in order for them to reach their desired destination goals of being independent. Many of our students stay on at the College and progress onto our one year supported internships.

The Trustees are seeking to appoint an energetic and highly motivated teacher of English to join our dynamic team at New Bridge College on a permanent basis. The role includes teaching English to students from Entry Level to Functional Skills Level 2 across the pathways at the College. We would be particularly interested in applicants with previous experience of supporting young people with a range of SEND needs ranging from ASD, ADHD, MLD and SEMH. This is also an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified teacher, who can demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting SEND students and is looking to work for an organisation which provides opportunities for professional development and progression. We will also consider applications from unqualified practitioners with the relevant experience and qualifications, including ECTs and Apprentices.

Due to the complex nature of our students, high levels of emotional and physical resilience are needed in supporting our young people to achieve. However, the knowledge that our work is making a positive impact in helping the students to grow and work towards independence brings great reward.

  • Experience of working with children and young people to overcome barriers to their personal, social or learning development.
  • A genuine appreciation of the potential barriers to a student’s learning, and sensitivity towards their circumstances and life experiences.
  • High expectations of young people, and a commitment to raising standards of attainment to ensure that they can achieve their full educational potential.
  • Experience of developing options and alternatives that will support young people to engage in the learning process.
  • Experience of planning and delivering English accreditations/qualifications including to lower level students.
  • A willingness to teach at Post-16/Key Stage 5 and above.
  • Experience of current assessment practice and the use of data and student progress tracking to ensure that all students achieve.
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour.
  • The emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with disaffected and challenging young people with a range of complex needs.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, ensuring consistency and continuity on a daily basis.
  • A commitment to working effectively with all members of the College team.

Although based initially at the New Bridge College, all staff are employed by the MAT and are expected to work at any site within the New Bridge Group.
