As a Domestic Assistant you will be responsible for keeping wards, offices, and public areas clean to a high standard. You will work as part of the domestic service team, as well as part of the wider community within the hospital setting.

Domestic Assistants are responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleaning in line with infection prevention. You will work from a daily/weekly schedule in both clinical and non-clinical areas, making sure that the hospital is clean, and that patients have a pleasant and safe stay.
The working hours are: Monday - Friday 17:00 - 20:00 = 15hrs
As a Domestic Assistant you’re likely to perform a range of duties that include:
- Cleaning patients or service user’s room/ward
- Cleaning toilets and bathroom areas
- Cleaning communal areas, such as lounges, dining areas and corridors
- Cleaning utility room
- Carrying out deep-cleaning operations in certain areas
- Using the most appropriate cleaning equipment for the task, this may include vacuum cleaner, mops, or electric floor cleaner
- Using cleaning products and other chemicals safely and effectively
- Keeping up to date with safety procedures for example, fire procedures and escape routes and undertake appropriate workplace training
Professional Duties
You will be responsible for the following within this position:
- Carrying out specific cleaning and other related duties to set procedures and standards
- Ensuring infection control policies are adhered to
- Working as part of a team, using a degree of initiative to prioritise and organise the daily duties, whilst always maintaining a professional approach
- Ensuring the cleanliness of clinical and non-clinical areas is maintained to the required standard
