The Oxenham Arms Hotel is a food led luxury 7 bed hotel, Inn and Restaurant located just off the A30, 20 minutes from Exeter, Devon and 10 minutes from Okehampton. We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our professional kitchen team.
Initially £16.00 an hour to be reviewed after 3 months depending upon performance. Equivalent of £35 K per annum plus tips/gratuities, paid holidays, contributory pension scheme, free parking. Working 5 days a week in a great fun team with highly professional staff. This is not a "live in" job and so you will need to drive to us daily or live locally.
The ideal candidate will be a strong Sous Chef and be used to high levels of presentation in a fresh food Modern British style restaurant or gastro pub environment. As a key member of our kitchen staff, the Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing daily operations, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. You will be capable of running the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef (holidays etc).
Duties:
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation and presentation.
- Prepare high-quality dishes in accordance with restaurant standards and recipes.
- Monitor food safety procedures and ensure compliance with health regulations at all times with a strong focus on menu options including Vegetarian, Vegan and allergens.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Manage food stock levels, daily ordering of supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen efficiency.
- Work in a team to develop new and exciting menu items and culinary innovations to enhance customer experience.
