The predicted salary is between 30145 - 36843 £ per year.

We have 2 36 hours vacancies for a Permanent Post 52.14 weeks per year for an Occupational Therapist (OT) based at Gardenhill Medical Centre or Annan Town Hall in the Social Work Occupational Therapy Team (part time hours will be considered).

The Occupational Therapist will be involved with assessment in partnership with people with disabilities and their informal carers, and making recommendations to meet need, which will include assistive equipment, adaptations, blue badge and housing.

The Occupational Therapist will work with other Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistant colleagues, as well as Social Work colleagues and the extended team of colleagues in Health, Housing, Care and Repair and other agencies.

You will need undergraduate or post graduate experience of working in a team setting and will need effective communication and computer skills, as well as good organisational skills and an understanding of legislation underpinning the provision of services to disabled people.

You will be joining the service during a period of significant change and development; we need someone who will be positive about change and working in new ways. Therefore, knowledge of recent legislation and local strategies for Health, Housing and Social Work is desirable.

Regular Professional supervision will be with the Senior Practitioner OT and performance and development reviews are in place, as well as the opportunity to further develop post graduate knowledge, skills and experience.

You must have a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and must be registered to practise as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
