Hostelling Scotland, a vibrant charity with stunning properties across the country, is seeking a dynamic Hostel Manager to lead our team at the Oban Youth Hostel, with overarching responsibility for the Port Charlotte, Lochranza & Tobermory Hostels (Argyll group). About the Role
As Hostel Manager, you'll be more than just a manager – you'll be a leader, a team builder, and a community champion. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Oban Youth Hostel, ensuring exceptional guest service, managing your team's performance, and driving revenue growth. You'll also play a key role in the wider Hostelling Scotland management team, collaborating with other managers across the country.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and inspire your team to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
- Manage all aspects of hostel operations, from bookings and revenue management to maintenance and housekeeping.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and optimise hostel services.
- Build strong relationships with local communities and businesses.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food safety (training provided if needed).
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager for support and guidance.
- Be prepared to "muck in" and support the team when needed, including assisting with changeovers (a reasonable level of physical fitness is required).
