Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts NUH Life Fertility Service is a small but dedicated multidisciplinary team providing fertility care to both men and women in the East Midlands region. We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Scientist in Andrology to join our laboratory team, providing both diagnostic and therapeutic Andrology services to our patients and donors.
We are exceptionally proud of our sperm donor bank which provides high quality donor sperm across the UK, and we run a regional male fertility preservation service covering the East Midlands. The ideal candidate will already have a minimum of 3 years experience (with at least 1 year working at a senior level) in an Andrology service. You will have strong skills in male fertility preservation and ideally also in sperm donation programmes. However, if you do not have experience of sperm donation and are looking for an opportunity to gain skills and experience in this highly regulated and rewarding area of work, we will consider appointing candidates at a B6 level and provide comprehensive training in this area, so please do not be deterred from applying if you meet all other essential criteria.
Please note we do not offer IVF at NUH Life, and as such this position is not suitable for those wishing to pursue a career in Embryology. Any informal enquiries about the post can be made to the Andrology Lead (karen.pooley4@nhs.net).
You will have extensive experience in all aspects of male fertility and be competent in diagnostic semen analysis, sperm preparation for assisted reproduction, storage consenting and sperm cryopreservation for both patients and donors. Scientific and technical knowledge and skills combined with excellent communication skills are essential attributes for this post, alongside demonstrable capability and experience of team leadership. You will act as deputy to the Andrology Lead in a number of areas of work.
The post holder will undertake the day to day running of the laboratory service and assist in its ongoing development in line with best practice and regulation including:
- Continuous evaluation
- Development of procedures
- Monitoring and publication of outcome data
You will play a key role as the Quality Lead for the laboratory service, working under direction of the Service Lead and Quality Manager. You should demonstrate a good awareness of Quality Management processes and their role in the provision of a high quality laboratory service.
With over 19,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population. We play a leading role in research, education and innovation. Come and join our wonderful team at NUH. We are big believers in diversity and welcome new ideas to help develop our team in order to deliver world class healthcare to the vast patient populations we serve. With endless personal development opportunities available, at NUH we will endeavour to turn your job into a career!
