Applications are invited from candidates for a 6-month Core Trainee Locum Appointment in Service post in Psychiatry. The post is ideally suited to an individual who has satisfactorily completed Foundation Year 1/2 training and has 4 months psychiatry experience, and is considering a career in Psychiatry.
All applicants must hold full registration and license with the General Medical Council. The post holder will be working with a team that may consist of Consultants, Specialty Doctors, Trust Doctors, Higher Specialty Trainees, Core Trainees, GP Trainees and Foundation Trainees. The post will have a generic clinical component in the relevant area. The post holder will have the relevant experience in psychiatry, required for the level of the trainee vacancy, including the assessment and management of acutely unwell psychiatric patients, providing essential medical care, assessing patient history and mental state, outpatient clinics, ward cover, in-patient reviews and procedures, audit and research.

The post holder will be expected to:
- Work as a professional, training within a multidisciplinary team, acknowledging different values and perspectives.
- Observe the Trust’s agreed policies and procedures.
- Take responsibility for your own health and safety, complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.
- Comply with the Trust’s requirements of appraisals.
- Complete the Trust and local induction as part of the onboarding process.
- Work appropriately and effectively within your clinical team within the limits of your competency under clinical supervision.
- In conjunction with colleagues, ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met and take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
- Accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any risks, incidents and hazards are reported and managed appropriately.
- Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times and that data belonging to the Trust is protected.
