We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Hygiene Supervisor to join our night shift team in Nottingham!

Hours: 4 on / 4 off (Night Shift) | 6pm - 6am
Salary: up to £43,000 per annum
Job Purpose:
The purpose of the Hygiene Supervisor role is to ensure the hygiene department operates in full compliance with all site procedures, hygiene standards, CIC and retailer requirements across all shift patterns. The role is also responsible for driving continuous improvement in hygiene standards, cleaning methodologies and team training to ensure high-quality cleaning results.
Key Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Responsible for reviewing, maintaining & creating CIC’s, Risk Assessments & hygiene procedures:
- Ensure that we do not go past our cic review dates & that each one is reviewed in a timely manner ensuring that we capture the right information and pictures, seek support with hygiene administrator for completing this task.
- Ensure that we do not go past our Risk Assessment review dates & that each one is reviewed in a timely manner, liaise with health & safety department for assistance, seek support with hygiene administrator for completing this task.
- Ensure all current hygiene procedures are adhered to by the hygiene team at all times, train out all new procedures across all shifts.
- To create new CIC’s for new equipment brought onto site during the equipment into service process alongside engineering/health & safety & technical.
- Responsible for carrying out and maintaining training within the department:
- Flexible across all shifts to carry out training against the departments training matrix to close gaps and ensure we work to a 100% completion rate target at all times.
- Maintain and manage each individual hygiene operatives training packs ensuring all new training documents are located within the files, a log for refresher training is completed and flagged when training is due.
- Provide hands-on support and form good one-to-one relationships to the hygiene department to ensure the development of practical skills & support the team to adopt the current and new procedures.
- Hygiene to Engineering communication:
- Liaise with the engineering department to ensure all hygiene equipment is maintained/fixed in a timely manner with clear actions and completion dates which are discussed daily/weekly.
- Weekly meeting on Fridays with the engineering planner and scheduler to go over plans that may impact hygiene cleaning schedules or cleaning windows, communicate with the hygiene team what the work will be and any changes that need to be made.
- A short report on Mondays to be delivered on how the work went & any follow-up actions that may be required.
- Arrange with external contractors (that we currently use, e.g Nilfisk) to ensure all hygiene equipment is maintained and repaired in a timely manner.
- Projects:
- With support from the hygiene manager, introduce/implement new innovation projects within the hygiene department and/or across the site.
- Auditing:
- To carry out internal post hygiene audits (one per month).
- To carry out in-process production audits.
- To carry out consistent performance management with the shift line leaders on a day-to-day, shift-by-shift basis on their ability to manage the sites expectations on performance and behaviours.
- You will also be responsible for managing a log of overall performance and submitting to the site hygiene manager on a weekly basis.
- To carry out competency assessment audits with the hygiene team (work to schedule) showing support and giving guidance on where they can improve before their next assessment.
- You will also be responsible for managing the assessment schedule and feeding back results to the site hygiene manager.
- Ensure the hygiene team are compliant with waste storage & disposal, liaise with the waste carrier to ensure site maintains a quality service.
- Ensure pest control actions for hygiene are closed out in a timely manner.
- Ensure engineering receive their pest control actions and action close out fed back on a weekly basis.
- Liaise with the pest control field technician during the planned visits throughout the year and accompany them during their routes around the factory.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a hygiene supervisory role within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP, COSHH, and food safety standards.
- Exceptional communication and team leadership skills.
- Confidence in training, coaching, and performance monitoring.
- Ability to manage documentation and compliance with precision and accountability.
- Flexibility to support shift training and cross-functional coordination.
