- We seek an enthusiastic General Duties Assistant
- O verview of the role - Team / Projects / Key challenges
- Undertake all plant routines assigned including industrial cleaning, compliance-based monitoring and checks and plant checks;
- Management and personal supervision (in accordance with site procedures) of all consumable deliveries and collections to and from site including sand, ash, lime, carbon and urea;
- Management of general deliveries to site including the use of the forklift to unload items and full responsibility for the process of informing individuals of their deliveries and ensuring the items are put away in the correct location (as advised);
- Possess a full understanding of the site layout and systems installed on site and act under instruction of the Shift Operations team to assist with operational and maintenance activity;
- Monitor the Security systems installed on the site and liaise directly with the site control person, E.
ON UK Central Security Control Center and emergency services as appropriate during site emergency conditions.
- Look after the day-to-day security of the site including liaising with all site visitors and contractors.
- Utilise knowledge and experience to take actions as required to deal with safety, environmental and plant emergencies, or abnormal conditions;
- Maintain and enhance safety and housekeeping within areas of control and actively promote good safety management and housekeeping within the team;
- First line maintenance within competency range of individual.
- Updating and reporting via operational shift logs, and other relevant databases and verbal communications to internal / external parties as appropriate;
- Enact the role of NCP and NS as defined by the E. ON UK safety rules; To undertake any other on-site duties as required by the site Management, Engineering or Operations teams.
- Main responsibilities
- To discharge the responsibilities as described above;
- Responsibility for site cleanliness including use of the road sweeper and DISAB cleaning systems.
Successful candidate is expected to use their own initiative to identify areas of plant that require cleaning and manage this between the team of GDA's;
- Responsibility for all site consumable collections and deliveries;
- Responsibility as a GDA team to ensure all tasks are completed as appropriate and that work is shared equally across the shifts; Continuous improvement and best practice to reduce controllable costs.
Experience and Qualifications - Essential / Desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders;
- IT literacy for use of email, Microsoft Word and Excel and weighbridge systems;
- An excellent working knowledge of facility's relevant process and systems;
- A robust understanding / awareness of environmental, commercial and legal issues and the impact on the plant operating conditions;
- Forklift truck and MEWP licence;
- A minimum of 12 months experience of operating within current safety, environmental and operational policies, frameworks and statutory legislation relevant to the role;
- Qualifications to ONC/NVQ level 3 in a related discipline or willingness to work towards;
- Relevant, demonstrable experience in a similar role or industry;
- A working knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the management of the site; The ability to undertake all operational duties in respect to fuel deliveries and security of the site (when required).
