Applications are invited for the post of Intestinal failure/clinical nutrition Fellow at Nottingham University Hospitals’ NHS Trust. This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a cohesive and progressive gastroenterology and hepatology department with a strong clinical and academic national profile.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with an interest in clinical nutrition. The post would be ideal for a candidate who has completed their basic Gastroenterology training and is looking for additional training in this challenging and exciting area of GI practice, but can be adapted to more junior trainees wishing to pursue a career in this field.

The role holder will contribute to both in and outpatient care of patients with problems related to intestinal failure. This will include IF ward rounds and clinics, outpatient clinics, MDT work and endoscopy sessions. These sessions will be under the supervision of members of our team of subspecialist IF physicians.

In addition, there will be opportunities to learn more advanced endoscopic techniques related to intestinal failure and clinical nutrition, to carry out research and to help in the development of our growing IF service. Clinical/Academic independence will be promoted and the fellow will be supported in any research initiatives they might have and will be encouraged to present these at national and international conferences and publish them in peer-reviewed journals.

With over 19,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population. We play a leading role in research, education and innovation.

Come and join our wonderful team at NUH. We are big believers in diversity and welcome new ideas to help develop our team in order to deliver world-class healthcare to the vast patient populations we serve. With endless personal development opportunities available, at NUH we will endeavour to turn your job into a career!

We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, or Disabled, as we are striving to be better represented at NUH.

This is a new post designed to support an important and growing service and to provide training which will equip the post holder to apply for a consultant job in the field. As such it will provide experience in all major aspects of intestinal failure work, will allow retention of more general gastroenterology skills and will also provide opportunities and time to work on service development which are hard to provide within a traditional SPR post.

Ward duties, clinics and endoscopy lists will be allocated to the post appropriate to the skills and needs of the successful applicant. In addition, there may be an opportunity to participate in the middle grade gastroenterology OOH rota which is non-resident on call.
