We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Engineer to join our Wheelchair Service Team.

You will be responsible forthe delivery, collection, repair and maintenance of manual and electrically powered wheelchairs and associated equipment.

The post holder will be required to support workshop activities when not out on the road, including the refurbishment of wheelchairs and associated parts, decontamination of wheelchairs and scrapping of wheelchairs and parts.

All work undertaken needs to be carried out ensuring those standards of service as specified by the Service Specification are met and in line with manufacturer instructions and training.

The role is based within a workshop/warehouse setting at Red House, Hellesdon and the Re- enablement Services Centre, Julian Hospital, Norwich.

You will be expected to cover on-call wheelchair repairs16:30 - 21:00 Mon-Friand 9:00 -21:00 Sat-Sunfor 1 week every 4 weeks, this may change due to staff leave.

  • To deliver, collect, repair, test, diagnose, modify and demonstrate to the client the electrically powered and manual wheelchairs, specialist buggies and associated equipment issued by the Wheelchair Assessment Centre, ensuring equipment is in safe working order.
  • The position requires lone working, generally liaising on a one-to-one basis with the patient in their own home.

Two members of the team may be required to visit some patients for the safety/security of the patient or Engineer.

  • To provide technical information on the safe use of equipment to patients and carers, raising any safety/suitability concerns with the use of equipment to Wheelchair Assessment Centre.
  • To provide technical advice to Admin colleagues to troubleshoot wheelchair faults, saving the need for an engineer visit.
  • To carry out a planned preventative maintenance programme on all wheelchairs on loan.
  • To participate in an out of office hours on-call service between the hours of 9am and 9pm throughout the week, including bank holidays, on a rotational basis.
  • To frequently drive to attend the above activities across the county on a daily basis.
