We are looking for a kind, reliable and flexible Personal Assistant (PA) to provide support for both of us at home and when going out. I have M.E. and a visual impairment, so my energy and abilities can vary from day to day. I already have a regular PA and am looking for an additional PA to join our support team. I enjoy DIY, gardening and getting out and about, so someone who enjoys these activities would be a real bonus.
About the role: This is a varied and flexible role supporting me and, occasionally, my wife. There is potential for more hours depending on our needs and your availability, and the exact arrangements can be discussed in more detail at interview. As well as the regular hours, we are looking for someone who can provide holiday and sickness cover for my other PA. Flexibility is important, as additional hours may sometimes be needed during school holiday periods.

Job Description:
- Assisting with food shopping and other occasional errands
- Preparing fresh, home-cooked meals

Person specification:
Essential:
- A confident driver with a full UK driving licence
- Comfortable following instructions carefully
- Practical and well organised
- Kind, patient, compassionate and a positive attitude
- Flexible and willing to help where needed
- Able to cook a hot meal
- Able to follow instructions carefully regarding food allergies and understand the importance of avoiding cross-contamination
- Respectful of our privacy and confidentiality
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the individual's needs

Summary of terms and conditions:
- The pay rate for this position is £15.87 per hour for employed PAs and £20.00 per hour for self-employed PAs
- Hours and times of work: 5 hours per week. Time discussed further at interview
- The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks
- The post is subject to the following:
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer
- Satisfactory references from two referees, one of whom must be your current or last employer
- Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months
