Desian Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a highly regarded specialist SEND primary school in Northwich, with excellent motorway access, to recruit six dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants due to a significant increase in pupil numbers from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a welcoming, inclusive and highly supportive school that places collaboration, professional development and pupil wellbeing at the heart of everything it does.

Successful candidates will initially join on a long-term temporary contract, with permanent positions available for the right individuals.

The school supports children with a wide range of additional needs including Autism (ASC/ASD), PMLD, Learning Difficulties (LD), SEMH, communication needs and non-verbal pupils.

Classes are organised to meet pupils' individual needs, meaning age ranges may vary to provide the best possible learning environment.

Working alongside experienced SEN practitioners, therapists and external professionals, you'll play a vital role in helping every child achieve their full potential in a nurturing and engaging setting.

Your role will include

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with EHCPs.
  • Supporting pupils with communication using Makaton, PECS and other visual communication strategies.
  • Delivering engaging sensory-based learning through sensory rooms, play and therapeutic activities.
  • Working closely with teachers, Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) and other specialists to deliver personalised support.
  • Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and academic development.
  • Assisting with personal and intimate care where required, particularly within EYFS and Key Stage 1.
