To provide person-centred support to a child with autism and learning disabilities within the family home and local community, enabling them to participate in meaningful activities, develop independence, meet their personal care needs, and remain safe and supported at all times. The role involves building a trusting relationship, promoting wellbeing, supporting communication, facilitating play and leisure activities, and assisting with daily living tasks in line with the child's individual needs, preferences, and routines.

  • -Provide one-to-one support to a young child with autism and a learning disability in the family home and local community.
  • -Engage in play and sensory‑based activities that match the child's interests and promote enjoyment and development.
  • -Prepare simple snacks, drinks, and meals as required.
  • -Support with personal care, including changing, dressing, and hand washing.
  • -Accompany the child on local outings, community activities, and short trips.
  • -Assist with the use of a mobility buggy and support safe travel.
  • -Ensure the child's safety and wellbeing at all times, both at home and in the community.
  • -Support the child's communication, emotional regulation, and sensory needs using a patient and person-centred approach.
  • -Work positively alongside parents to maintain consistent support and routines.
  • -Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in meaningful activities.
