Age Concern Tyneside South (ACTS) are looking for a Handyperson to join a small team to deliver a falls prevention service across the Borough of South Tyneside to prevent residents from falling through a range of interventions which enable them to live independently and safely at home.

The role of the handyperson is to multitask and have the ability and skills to execute numerous jobs, to work under the supervision of a manager/supervisor and have the ability to function and deliver based on tasks assigned to them. Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out work identified through a variety of sources including clients, therapists and other professionals.
  • Conducting risk assessments in people's homes to identify falls risks.
  • Fitting small measures and carrying out minor works to prevent the risk.
  • Fitting aids and minor adaptations, joinery, moving furniture/equipment, making safe access routes into homes.

A full, valid UK driving licence is essential for this role, as you will be required to travel to client sites across South Tyneside and operate company vehicles.

Age Concern Tyneside South is a Registered Charity which promotes the well-being of all people living in South Tyneside, improving their quality of life and helping them maintain their independence.
