Salary: Career Grade 7-10, £28,598 to £40,787 per annum. This role is office-based; however, it also offers some agile or remote working.

Are you looking for a career where you can make a real difference to local residents and businesses on the Isle of Wight? No two days are ever the same in Trading Standards with the work we carry out being varied and interesting. You could be investigating a rogue trader carrying out substandard work, ensuring that children aren’t supplied age restricted products, or tackling illicit vapes & tobacco. In addition, you will provide advice to businesses across the full range of Trading Standards legislation, along with tackling unsafe and counterfeit products or assisting a victim who may have lost thousands of pounds to a scam.

You may also need to visit a farm for animal health & welfare and feed standards or perhaps inspect retailers for weights and measures compliance to ensure consumers are not suffering detriment for those everyday essentials we rely heavily on. As you can see, we cover a wide range of responsibilities with approximately 250 separate laws to enforce.
