The Healthcare Support Worker / Clinical Assistant (HCSW/CA) role involves supporting registered and non-registered healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care. Your role will include assisting patients with activities of daily living such as washing, dressing, toileting, and feeding, and performing basic clinical observations (e.g. blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respirations) when required. Your role will include supporting patient mobility and the manual handling of patients using appropriate equipment such as hoists, slide sheets, and walking aids, assisting with clinical procedures under supervision, and monitoring patients’ conditions, reporting any concerns to qualified staff.
Your role will include providing emotional support, maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect, and promoting equality, person-centred care, and a clean, safe environment. You will maintain accurate records and handle information in line with confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding responsibilities, including recognising and reporting risks. You will follow infection prevention and control procedures, use PPE appropriately, maintain equipment cleanliness, and report hazards or incidents.
You will work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, participate in handovers, and contribute to high standards of care with professionalism and ongoing development.
