Smart Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Night Shift Supervisor to join a busy and growing waste, recycling and processing operation in Newport.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong operational, engineering and people management skills to take responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the facility during the night shift.
The Role
As Night Shift Supervisor, you will take full responsibility for the operation of the facility during your shift, ensuring production, quality, safety and performance targets are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all night shift operations to ensure maximum productivity and operational efficiency.
- Supervise, support and develop production staff, promoting a positive and high-performing team culture.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards and operational KPIs are achieved.
- Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities to maximise throughput and minimise downtime.
- Complete all shift reports, documentation and operational records accurately and on time.
- Maintain effective communication with the General Manager and Production Manager regarding performance, issues and improvement opportunities.
- Troubleshoot operational and mechanical issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct effective shift handovers to ensure continuity between teams.
- Ensure all Health & Safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work are adhered to at all times.
- Support staff training and development to meet current and future operational requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Ensure company resources are utilised efficiently to achieve optimum operational performance and cost control.
- Champion company policies, procedures and best practices throughout the operation.
Qualifications
- COTC (Certificate of Technical Competence).
- Operator certificates for Loading Shovels, Material Handlers, Counterbalance Forklifts, Telehandlers and MEWPs/Genie Booms.
